Post Preference for SSC CGL 2017 : Guide and FAQs

Hello Readers,

As you all know that SSC has published SSC CGL 2017 Notification on 15-05-2017. This Year SSC CGL Notification has some major changes due to which aspirants are confused and we are receiving lots of queries/messages and request to provide guidance regarding this.

In this article we will be discussion about the Post Preference for SSC CGL 2017.

One of the major changes introduced in SSC CGL 2017 Notification is regarding Post Preference. This Year SSC has not asked for Post-wise Preference while filling application form. Instead SSC has asked for Group of Post Preference. This is the first time SSC is using Group of Post Preference in place of Post-wise preference for CGL examination.

SSC has Divided all Posts into 4 groups viz A, B, C & D and while filling application form candidates need to fill only Group Preference instead of individual post preference. Below is the short introduction regarding classification of Group of Posts.

GROUPS (A, B, C & D)

Group A Posts - All Posts having Grade pay of 4800 (AAO : Audit + Account)

Group B Posts - All Posts having Grade pay of 4200 to 4600 (Inspectors, Assistants, ASOs, SI, DA, etc )

Group C Posts - Junior Statistical Officer having Grade pay of 4200 (JSO)

Group D Posts - All Posts having Grade pay of 2400-2800 (Auditors, Jr. Accountants, tax Assistants, UDCs, etc.)

It is very Important to note that Group A, B, C, & D are just Group of Posts and has no relation with Class of officers (e.g. Group A posts are for Officers of Class B, Non Gazetted).

Class A officers are recruited through UPSC and in CGL notification it is not Class of officers but only Groups to categorize posts.

Kindly note that Post-wise preference will be filled at the time of document verification and if a candidate has not indicated his/her preference for any post/posts, he/she would not be considered for such posts.

In this year SSC CGL 2017 Online application form needs only  Group of Posts preference, so we are discussing only about it and not about post-wise preference as post-wise preference will be asked at the time of document verification.

1) If Salary is your Priority : A, B, C, D (A, B, D in case EQ for C is not Possessed)
(Best and Safe Option, you may Skip AAO (A) and/or JSO (C) papers)

2) If Executive Post is your Priority : B, A, C, D (B, A, D in case EQ for C is not Possessed)

You must give your first preference either to A or B, Do not select C, or D for first preference.

Other posting choices, viz. Delhi Posting, Foreign posting, Coastal Areas Posting, Home Posting, Metro Cities Posting, Field Job Postings, Fast Promotion Postings etc. will be discussed before Document verification and as of now candidates need not to worry about it.
